Today saw the start of an exciting new partnership programme with Southend United. 25 young carers made up of boys and girls from ages 9-18 were put through their paces by two professional coaches from Southend United Community Team.
The session started off with some gentle running to warm up the muscles and then went onto small teams doing heads, shoulders, knees and cones and playing tag. The young carers were split into teams of Mario, Luigi and Bowser and given instructions on how to tag to stop and tap to release other players.
The session ended with a short match between two sides with a few working on basic skills alongside. The feedback received this evening was overwhelmingly positive and we look forward to the forthcoming sessions.
