Amy Deboo-Parker

Qualified Social Worker

Hello, my name is Amy, and I qualified in social work 2022. I live in Basildon, but I am originally from Islington, North London. I have 6 years’ experience as a senior support worker in a residential setting supporting adults with learning disabilities. I have also worked in a low secure mental health hospital on the psychiatric intensive care unit for 2 and a half years. I recently learnt I have dyscalculia, dyslexia, and mild dyspraxia, which explains why I had such bad experiences at school growing up, but in 2019 I built up the confidence and went to university and now, with support I’m thriving.

I have always wanted to be a social worker I have such a passion for helping people and generally want to make the world a kinder place to be. I have come across many social injustices, power imbalances and discriminations, I want to help advocate for those individuals and give them a voice.

I love learning about all different cultures, I like travelling, theatre, absolutely love getting messy in arts and crafts. Most of all I love my fur baby Lexi (pictured above).

With Kool Carers I look forward to supporting young carers and their parents to achieve their full potential in a fun, creative and non judgmental environment.
