Social Work Student
My name is Emily and I am a second year Social Work Student. I live in Southend but spent most of my childhood and teenage years living in the Republic of Ireland. I have worked in a range of roles within the health and social care setting over the last 11 years, from children in care to, substance misuse and offending to end of life community care.
I have always wanted to have a career that involved helping people and decided that 2019 was the right time for myself and my children for me to start University again. I am very passionate about social work, but in particular my main aim in my professional career is to advocate for those who need a voice. I helped start a Social Work and Social Injustice Society at my University as I would like to try and make a positive impact on social injustices being faced by people locally and nationally.
To relax I like to spend time with my children, reading, watching and playing sport and video games. I like to cook and bake and love improving my photography skills with my digital camera whenever I can. And every other Saturday you can find me at Roots Hall football ground cheering on Southend United.
I am very excited to work alongside you all.
